As Valentine Nears...

In any romantic comedy there are words and phrases - in between all the shits and giggles - that really put into perspective the true meaning of LOVE. One such phrase lingers in my mind now and comes from 'Wedding Crashers' of all movies. "Love is our soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another." How beautiful is that?!!! I can't think of any other way to define what LOVE really and truly is. Of course, the irony is obvious. In the movie, there are two guys in their 30s crashing weddings in order to catch women at their most vulnerable states - while caught up in the trance of living happily ever after with their own knights in shining armour. Britany Spears has a name for these types of guys.

"Womanizer. Womanizer. Oh baby, you're a womanizer. .."

But despite living the stereotypes of a guy never being able to commit to anything (let alone a relationship) those same words echo in me now louder than ever as Valentine's Day nears. No, not "Womanizer. Womanizer..." The other phrase - "Love is our soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another." When reason and meaning finally settles in a guy's slow-moving brain he wants nothing more than to settle down and live happily ever after with his own soul's counterpoint. So just as it is natural for us guys to want to hook up with as many chicks as possible, and have 'hoes, in every areaaa codes... Hooooes...' (Ludacris), we also do have the ability to be the loving companion that girls want us to be.

Hey, if the 2 guys in Wedding Crashers can do it, then there is hope for mankind yet!

True love transcends and defies all. She makes you want to be a better man the moment you've found her and you can't help but fall in love many times with her.

Mankind is always full of hope... may you keep an open heart and soul to recognize your counterpoint.

Happy Valentine's! :)
